Geachte heer/ mevrouw,

Hoogachtend,

Eduard C

Career History (since 1988)

Present Employer

Name of company: Sasol Synfuels International
Present Position: Lead Operator
Period of employment: June, 01 2007 – to date.

Job description and duties:
During my time at Sasol Polymers I applied for a position at the Sasol International Division. Being successful I was given the position of Lead Operator on the Joint Venture between Sasol and Chevron Project for EGTL in Escravos Nigeria. I was first send to Houston, Texas to be part of the team that scrutinize the P&ID’s of the new plant being build, and from there prepare the documentation that would become the Operation and Training manuals.

I was mostly involved in FAT’s at Yokogawa where we ensured that the data on the DCS is correct and when necessary do corrections, changes or make recommendations for later changes. Since my assignment in Nigeria on this project I have been involved with the commissioning team to prepare documentation on commissioning procedures.

As of December 2010 I was appointed as a OTS Specialist overseeing all training aspects of Operators for the DCS on becoming full fledged Consol Operators.

As of August, 1st 2011, I have been promoted to Senior Process Artisan.

In August 2012 I was asked to assist with the commissioning team as an Isolator which is part of the PTW (Permit To Work) system. This involves the safe making of equipment by means of positive isolation using locks and tags. It also involves the document control of such isolation so that it can be tracked for further cross referencing or until de-isolation is requested when work is completed.

My Contract with EGTL ended in December 2013 and I am now back at Sasol in Sasolburg. Here I work as a supervisor on 9 automated packing machines were different forms of wax is packed in 20 kg bags, stacked on pallets and are made ready for shipment to clients.

Previous Experience:

Name of company: Sasol Polymers
Nature of Business: Chemicals (Plastics)
Last Position held: Senior Process Controller
Period of employment: August, 01 1995 – May, 31 2007. (11 yrs 11 months)

Job description and duties:
I started in august 1995 on the Poly Ethylene Plant as a J-grade operator, on the compressor section. Within 6 months I had advanced to Senior Process Operator in the control room. Since then I have done all other positions in this plant

As a panel operator it is my duty to regulate the whole plant by means of a DCS (Rosemount). In many instances I have assisted the Shift Manager in his duties when he needed help as well as doing relief work in his absence. I also worked may time as a field operator and was then in charge of all plant equipment like: High Pressure compressors, Extruders, pumps, Heat exchangers, Cooling towers and smaller equipment. One of my biggest success was when the previous Rosemount computer crashed and no backup was available at the time. I had already a written a lay out proposal for the system which was then successfully used and installed preventing the plant a extended period of down-time.

An other major mile stone was when I was selected to be part of the new POLY 3 plant which is also a Poly Ethylene Plant, but a Tubular Reactor, and was given the opportunity to go to an Exxon Plant in Belgium and the USA to obtain knowledge of similar working plants. During plant construction I was involved in doing the FAT’s on the Delta V DCS system at Alpret in Johannesburg. I have been a control room operator at the new plant for just over two years..

Name of company: Sasol 1 (Wax Ware house)
Nature of Business: Petro Chemical
Last Position held: Senior Technical Officer
Period of employment: November, 10 1993 – August, 31 1994 (9 months)

Job description and duties:
In November 1993 Sasol implemented a new system for warehousing and stock control (IMPACT). My previous manager contacted me and asked if I was interested to help with the implementation. As I was still unemployed at that time I accepted.

My main duty was to install the program, create product codes, do a physical stock count and enter data into the new system. I also created a system whereby the customers could do ordering by computer. After the system was up and running I did the training for the personnel that were going to use the new program.

As this was only a temporary job I left at the end of my 9 months contract.
